EXAM REVISION

What are the two books of the bible? Outline what they are about.
The Old Testament is about creation and the prophets.
The New Testament is the 4 gospels, actions of Jesus and his teachings of God’s message.
What are the Ten Commandments? Briefly discuss two of them.
1.     You shall have no other Gods but me.
2.    You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
3.    You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
4.    You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
5.    Respect your father and mother.
6.    You must not kill.
7.    You must not commit adultery.
8.    You must not steal.
9.    You must not give false evidence against your neighbour.
10.  You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.
You shall have no other Gods but me means that God should be above all other gods.
You must not give false evidence against your neighbour means that you shouldn't lie.
Who is Moses and why is he so significant to the Jews in particular?

Name and describe the five pillars of Islam
Shahadah- BeliefThe first Pillar of Islam is belief that "There is no god but God and that Muhammad is His messenger."

Salat- Prayer
The second Pillar of Islam is to worship God five times a day, at sunrise, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and nightfall.

Zakat- Almsgiving
The fourth Pillar of Islam is to give alms to the poor. Muslims are supposed to donate a fixed amount of their property to charity every year.

Ramadan - Fasting
The third Pillar of Islam is to abstain from food and drink between sunrise and sunset in the month of Ramadan, the ninth month in the Muslim calendar.

Hajj- Pilgrimage
The fifth Pillar of Islam is to undertake the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in one's lifetime
